⁵ But he shook off the creature into the fire and ^(A)suffered no harm.

¹⁹ Behold, ^(A)I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

^18 (A)they^[a] will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; ^(B)they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.”

³ Then out of the smoke locusts came upon the earth. And to them was given power, ^(A)as the scorpions of the earth have power. ⁴ They were commanded ^(B)not to harm ^(C)the grass of the earth, or any green thing, or any tree, but only those men who do not have ^(D)the seal of God on their foreheads.

⁶ So ^(A)the Lord sent ^(B)fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people; and many of the people of Israel died.

^7 (C)Therefore the people came to Moses, and said, “We have ^(D)sinned, for we have spoken against the Lord and against you; ^(E)pray to the Lord that He take away the serpents from us.” So Moses prayed for the people.

⁸ Then the Lord said to Moses, ^(F)“Make a ^(G)fiery serpent, and set it on a pole; and it shall be that everyone who is bitten, when he looks at it, shall live.” ⁹ So ^(H)Moses made a bronze serpent, and put it on a pole; and so it was, if a serpent had bitten anyone, when he looked at the bronze serpent, he lived.

²⁰ And ^(A)the God of peace ^(B)will crush Satan under your feet shortly.

^(C)The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.

^14 (A)And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so ^(B)must the Son of Man be lifted up, ¹⁵ that whoever ^(C)believes in Him should ^[a]not perish but ^(D)have eternal life.
