²⁴ And ^(A)some were convinced by what he said, but others disbelieved.

⁴ But the people of the city ^(A)were divided; ^(B)some sided with the Jews and some with the apostles.

⁴ And ^(A)some of them were persuaded and joined Paul and Silas, as did ^(B)a great many of the devout ^(C)Greeks and not a few of the leading women. ^5 (D)But the Jews^{[a] (E)}were jealous, and taking ^(F)some wicked men of the rabble, they formed a mob, set the city in an uproar, and attacked the house of Jason, seeking to bring them out to the crowd.

⁸ And ^(A)he entered the synagogue and for three months spoke boldly, reasoning and persuading them ^(B)about the kingdom of God. ^9 (C)But when some became stubborn and ^(D)continued in unbelief, speaking evil of ^(E)the Way before the congregation, he withdrew from them and took the disciples with him, reasoning daily in the hall of Tyrannus.^[a]

^3 (A)What if some were unfaithful? ^(B)Does their faithlessness nullify the faithfulness of God?

⁶ And when they opposed and reviled him, ^(A)he shook out his garments and said to them, ^(B)“Your blood be on your own heads! ^(C)I am innocent. ^(D)From now on I will go to the Gentiles.” ⁷ And he left there and went to the house of a man named Titius ^(E)Justus, ^(F)a worshiper of God. His house was next door to the synagogue. ^8 (G)Crispus, the ruler of the synagogue, believed in the Lord, together ^(H)with his entire household. And many of the Corinthians hearing Paul believed and were baptized.

⁴ But what is God's reply to him? ^(A)“I have kept for myself seven thousand men who have not bowed the knee to Baal.” ⁵ So too at the present time there is ^(B)a remnant, chosen by grace. ^6 (C)But if it is by grace, it is no longer on the basis of works; otherwise grace would no longer be grace.

⁴⁸ And when the Gentiles heard this, they began rejoicing and ^(A)glorifying the word of the Lord, and as many as were appointed to eternal life believed. ⁴⁹ And the word of the Lord was spreading throughout the whole region. ^50 (B)But the Jews incited the devout ^(C)women of high standing and the leading men of the city, ^(D)stirred up persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and ^(E)drove them out of their district.
