Paul’s Arrival at Rome

¹¹ After three months we put out to sea in a ship that had wintered in the island—it was an Alexandrian ship^(A) with the figurehead of the twin gods Castor and Pollux.

⁶ There the centurion found an Alexandrian ship^(A) sailing for Italy^(B) and put us on board.

⁴ So then, about eating food sacrificed to idols:^(A) We know that “An idol is nothing at all in the world”^(B) and that “There is no God but one.”^(C)

⁹ Opposition arose, however, from members of the Synagogue of the Freedmen (as it was called)—Jews of Cyrene^(A) and Alexandria as well as the provinces of Cilicia^(B) and Asia^(C)—who began to argue with Stephen.

¹⁶ At this the men greatly feared^(A) the Lord, and they offered a sacrifice to the Lord and made vows^(B) to him.

⁵ All the sailors were afraid and each cried out to his own god. And they threw the cargo into the sea to lighten the ship.^(A)

But Jonah had gone below deck, where he lay down and fell into a deep sleep.
