³⁵ After he had said this, he took bread, and giving thanks to God in the presence of all, he broke it and began to eat.^(A)

³⁶ he took the seven loaves and the fish, and after giving thanks he broke them and gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the crowds.^(A)

¹⁶ Yet if any of you suffers as a Christian, do not consider it a disgrace, but glorify God because you bear this name.^[a]

¹² and for this reason I suffer as I do. But I am not ashamed, for I know the one in whom I have put my trust, and I am sure that he is able to guard until that day the deposit I have entrusted to him.^[a](A)

⁸ Do not be ashamed, then, of the testimony about our Lord or of me his prisoner, but join with me in suffering for the gospel, in the power of God,^(A)

³ They forbid marriage and abstain from certain foods, which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth.^{(A) 4} For everything created by God is good, and nothing is to be rejected, provided it is received with thanksgiving,^(B)

³⁰ If I partake with thankfulness, why should I be denounced because of that for which I give thanks?^(A)

³¹ So, whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do everything for the glory of God.^(B)

⁶ Those who observe the day, observe it for the Lord. Also those who eat, eat for the Lord, since they give thanks to God, while those who abstain, abstain for the Lord and give thanks to God.^(A)

The Power of the Gospel

¹⁶ For I am not ashamed of the gospel; it is God’s saving power for everyone who believes,^[a] for the Jew first and also for the Greek.^(A)

⁴⁶ Day by day, as they spent much time together in the temple, they broke bread at home^[a] and ate their food with glad and generous^[b] hearts,^{(A) 47} praising God and having the goodwill of all the people. And day by day the Lord added to their number those who were being saved.^(B)
