²² I urge you now to keep up your courage, for there will be no loss of life among you, but only of the ship.^(A)

³⁶ Then all of them were encouraged and took food for themselves.^(A)

²⁵ So keep up your courage, men, for I have faith in God that it will be exactly as I have been told.^(A)

⁸ We are afflicted in every way but not crushed, perplexed but not driven to despair, ⁹ persecuted but not forsaken, struck down but not destroyed,

⁴ who consoles us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to console those who are in any affliction with the consolation with which we ourselves are consoled by God. ⁵ For just as the sufferings of Christ are abundant for us, so also our consolation is abundant through Christ.^{(A) 6} If we are being afflicted, it is for your consolation and salvation; if we are being consoled, it is for your consolation, which you experience when you patiently endure the same sufferings that we are also suffering.

Restoration and Protection Promised

³⁴ Therefore I urge you to take some food, for it will help you survive, for none of you will lose a hair from your heads.”^(A)

⁶ David was in great danger, for the people spoke of stoning him because all the people were bitter in spirit for their sons and daughters. But David strengthened himself in the Lord his God.^(A)

⁴⁴ and the rest to follow, some on planks and others on pieces of the ship. And so it was that all were brought safely to land.^(A)
