⁸ Why is it thought incredible by any of you that God raises the dead?^(A)

³¹ because he has fixed a day on which he will have the world judged in righteousness by a man whom he has appointed, and of this he has given assurance to all by raising him from the dead.”^(A)

³² When they heard of the resurrection of the dead, some scoffed, but others said, “We will hear you again about this.”

The Resurrection of the Dead

¹² Now if Christ is proclaimed as raised from the dead, how can some of you say there is no resurrection of the dead? ¹³ If there is no resurrection of the dead, then Christ has not been raised, ¹⁴ and if Christ has not been raised, then our proclamation is in vain and your faith is in vain. ¹⁵ We are even found to be misrepresenting God, because we testified of God that he raised Christ—whom he did not raise if it is true that the dead are not raised.^{(A) 16} For if the dead are not raised, then Christ has not been raised. ¹⁷ If Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile, and you are still in your sins. ¹⁸ Then those also who have died^[a] in Christ have perished. ¹⁹ If for this life only we have hoped in Christ, we are of all people most to be pitied.

²⁰ But in fact Christ has been raised from the dead, the first fruits of those who have died.^[b](B)

⁴⁰ but God raised him on the third day and allowed him to appear,^{(A) 41} not to all the people but to us who were chosen by God as witnesses and who ate and drank with him after he rose from the dead.^{(B) 42} He commanded us to preach to the people and to testify that he is the one ordained by God as judge of the living and the dead.^(C)

² much annoyed because they were teaching the people and proclaiming that in Jesus there is the resurrection of the dead.^(A)

²⁷ He replied, “What is impossible for mortals is possible for God.”^(A)

²¹ He will transform the body of our humiliation^[a] that it may be conformed to the body of his glory,^[b] by the power that also enables him to make all things subject to himself.^(A)

¹⁹ Instead, they had certain points of disagreement with him about their own religion and about a certain Jesus, who had died but whom Paul asserted to be alive.^(A)

⁶ When Paul noticed that some were Sadducees and others were Pharisees, he called out in the council, “Brothers,^[a] I am a Pharisee, a son of Pharisees. I am on trial concerning the hope of the resurrection^[b] of the dead.”^(A)

³⁰ But God raised him from the dead,^{(A) 31} and for many days he appeared to those who came up with him from Galilee to Jerusalem, and they are now his witnesses to the people.^(B)
