³¹ and when they had gone aside, they talked among themselves, saying, ^(A)“This man is doing nothing deserving of death or chains.”

⁹ Then there arose a loud outcry. And the scribes of the Pharisees’ party arose and protested, saying, ^(A)“We find no evil in this man; ^[a]but ^(B)if a spirit or an angel has spoken to him, ^(C)let us not fight against God.”

¹⁸ who, ^(A)when they had examined me, wanted to let me go, because there was no cause for putting me to death.

¹⁴ If you are ^[a]reproached for the name of Christ, ^(A)blessed are you, for the Spirit of glory and of God rests upon you. ^[b]On their part He is blasphemed, ^(B)but on your part He is glorified. ¹⁵ But let none of you suffer as a murderer, a thief, an evildoer, or as a ^[c]busybody in other people’s matters. ¹⁶ Yet if anyone suffers as a Christian, let him not be ashamed, but let him glorify God in this ^[d]matter.

^16 (A)having a good conscience, that when they defame you as evildoers, those who revile your good conduct in Christ may be ashamed.

²⁵ But when I found that ^(A)he had committed nothing deserving of death, ^(B)and that he himself had appealed to Augustus, I decided to send him.

¹⁴ said to them, ^(A)“You have brought this Man to me, as one who misleads the people. And indeed, ^(B)having examined Him in your presence, I have found no fault in this Man concerning those things of which you accuse Him; ¹⁵ no, neither did Herod, for ^[a]I sent you back to him; and indeed nothing deserving of death has been done by Him.

⁴ So Pilate said to the chief priests and the crowd, ^(A)“I find no fault in this Man.”

¹⁷ Then David spoke to the Lord when he saw the angel who was striking the people, and said, “Surely ^(A)I have sinned, and I have done wickedly; but these sheep, what have they done? Let Your hand, I pray, be against me and against my father’s house.”
