^10 (A)This I also did in Jerusalem, and many of the saints I shut up in prison, having received authority ^(B)from the chief priests; and when they were put to death, I cast my vote against them.

³ As for Saul, ^(A)he made havoc of the church, entering every house, and dragging off men and women, committing them to prison.

²¹ Then all who heard were amazed, and said, ^(A)“Is this not he who destroyed those who called on this name in Jerusalem, and has come here for that purpose, so that he might bring them bound to the chief priests?”

¹³ Then Ananias answered, “Lord, I have heard from many about this man, ^(A)how much ^[a]harm he has done to Your saints in Jerusalem. ¹⁴ And here he has authority from the chief priests to bind all ^(B)who call on Your name.”

^4 (A)I persecuted this Way to the death, binding and delivering into prisons both men and women, ⁵ as also the high priest bears me witness, and ^(B)all the council of the elders, ^(C)from whom I also received letters to the brethren, and went to Damascus ^(D)to bring in chains even those who were there to Jerusalem to be punished.

⁹ For I am ^(A)the least of the apostles, who am not worthy to be called an apostle, because ^(B)I persecuted the church of God.

¹⁹ So I said, ‘Lord, ^(A)they know that in every synagogue I imprisoned and ^(B)beat those who believe on You. ^20 (C)And when the blood of Your martyr Stephen was shed, I also was standing by ^(D)consenting ^[a]to his death, and guarding the clothes of those who were killing him.’

²⁶ And ^(A)when Saul had come to Jerusalem, he tried to join the disciples; but they were all afraid of him, and did not believe that he was a disciple.

9 Then ^(B)Saul, still breathing threats and murder against the disciples of the Lord, went to the high priest ² and asked ^(C)letters from him to the synagogues of Damascus, so that if he found any who were of the Way, whether men or women, he might bring them bound to Jerusalem.

8 Now Saul was consenting to his death.

At that time a great persecution arose against the church which was at Jerusalem; and ^(A)they were all scattered throughout the regions of Judea and Samaria, except the apostles.
