¹⁹ Rather they ^(A)had certain points of dispute with him about their own religion and about ^(B)a certain Jesus, who was dead, but whom Paul asserted to be alive.

²⁹ I found that he was being accused ^(A)about questions of their law, but ^(B)charged with nothing deserving death or imprisonment.

¹⁵ But ^(A)since it is a matter of questions about words and names and ^(B)your own law, see to it yourselves. I refuse to be a judge of these things.”

³ For ^(A)I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died ^(B)for our sins ^(C)in accordance with the Scriptures, ⁴ that he was buried, that he was raised ^(D)on the third day ^(E)in accordance with the Scriptures,

¹⁸ and the living one. ^(A)I died, and behold I am alive forevermore, and ^(B)I have the keys of Death and Hades.

¹⁴ And if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is in vain and your faith is in vain. ¹⁵ We are even found to be misrepresenting God, because we testified about God that ^(A)he raised Christ, whom he did not raise if it is true that the dead are not raised. ¹⁶ For if the dead are not raised, not even Christ has been raised. ¹⁷ And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile and ^(B)you are still in your sins. ¹⁸ Then those also who ^(C)have fallen asleep in Christ have perished. ¹⁹ If in Christ we have hope^[a] in this life only, ^(D)we are of all people most to be pitied.

²⁰ But in fact ^(E)Christ has been raised from the dead, ^(F)the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep.

^22 (A)To this day I have had the help that comes from God, and so ^(B)I stand here testifying both to small and great, saying nothing but what ^(C)the prophets and Moses said would come to pass: ^23 (D)that the Christ ^(E)must suffer and that, ^(F)by being the first ^(G)to rise from the dead, ^(H)he would proclaim ^(I)light both to our people and to the Gentiles.”

⁷ When he had arrived, the Jews who had come down from Jerusalem stood around him, bringing many and serious charges against him ^(A)that they could not prove.

¹⁹ And they came to ^(A)Ephesus, and he left them there, but ^(B)he himself went into the synagogue and reasoned with the Jews.
