^16 (A)I answered them that it was not the custom of the Romans to give up anyone ^(B)before the accused met the accusers face to face and had opportunity to make his defense concerning the charge laid against him.

⁴ Festus replied that Paul was being kept at Caesarea and that he himself intended to go there shortly. ⁵ “So,” said he, “let the men of authority among you go down with me, and if there is anything wrong about the man, let them bring charges against him.”

^51 (A)“Does our law judge a man without first ^(B)giving him a hearing and learning what he does?”

^30 (A)And when it was disclosed to me ^(B)that there would be a plot against the man, I sent him to you at once, ^(C)ordering his accusers also to state before you what they have against him.”

¹⁷ then both parties to the dispute shall appear before the Lord, ^(A)before the priests and the judges who are in office in those days. ¹⁸ The judges shall ^(B)inquire diligently, and if the witness is a false witness and has accused his brother falsely,
