³⁰ The next day, because he wanted to know for certain why he was accused by the Jews, he released him from his bonds, and commanded the chief priests and all their council to appear, and brought Paul down and set him before them.

³³ Then the ^(A)commander came near and took him, and ^(B)commanded him to be bound with two chains; and he asked who he was and what he had done.

²⁹ And Paul said, ^(A)“I would to God that not only you, but also all who hear me today, might become both almost and altogether such as I am, except for these chains.”

¹⁵ Now you, therefore, together with the council, suggest to the commander that he be brought down to you ^[a]tomorrow, as though you were going to make further inquiries concerning him; but we are ready to kill him before he comes near.”

⁵ as also the high priest bears me witness, and ^(A)all the council of the elders, ^(B)from whom I also received letters to the brethren, and went to Damascus ^(C)to bring in chains even those who were there to Jerusalem to be punished.

¹¹ When he had come to us, he took Paul’s belt, bound his own hands and feet, and said, “Thus says the Holy Spirit, ^(A)‘So shall the Jews at Jerusalem bind the man who owns this belt, and deliver him into the hands of the Gentiles.’ ”

²¹ And when they heard that, they entered the temple early in the morning and taught. ^(A)But the high priest and those with him came and called the ^[a]council together, with all the ^[b]elders of the children of Israel, and sent to the prison to have them brought.

¹⁷ But beware of men, for ^(A)they will deliver you up to councils and ^(B)scourge you in their synagogues.

²² But I say to you that ^(A)whoever is angry with his brother ^[a]without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment. And whoever says to his brother, ^(B)‘Raca!’^[b] shall be in danger of the council. But whoever says, ^[c]‘You fool!’ shall be in danger of ^[d]hell fire.
