¹³ Then Paul answered, ^(A)“What are you doing, weeping and breaking my heart? For ^(B)I am ready not only to be imprisoned but even to die in Jerusalem ^(C)for the name of the Lord Jesus.”

²⁴ But ^(A)I do not account my life of any value nor as precious to myself, if only ^(B)I may finish my course and ^(C)the ministry ^(D)that I received from the Lord Jesus, ^(E)to testify to ^(F)the gospel of ^(G)the grace of God.

¹⁷ Even if I am to be ^(A)poured out as a drink offering upon ^(B)the sacrificial offering of your faith, I am glad and rejoice with you all.

²⁰ as it is my eager expectation and hope ^(A)that I will not be at all ashamed, but that with full ^(B)courage now as always Christ ^(C)will be honored in my body, ^(D)whether by life or by death. ²¹ For to me ^(E)to live is Christ, and to die is gain.

⁶ For ^(A)I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my ^(B)departure has come.

³⁵ Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? ³⁶ As it is written,

³⁷ No, in all these things we are more than ^(C)conquerors through ^(D)him who loved us.

¹¹ And ^(A)they have conquered him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, for ^(B)they loved not their lives ^(C)even unto death.

Paul's Ministry to the Church

²⁴ Now ^(A)I rejoice in my sufferings for your sake, and in my flesh ^(B)I am filling up ^(C)what is lacking in Christ's afflictions ^(D)for the sake of his body, that is, the church,

^10 (A)always carrying in the body the death of Jesus, ^(B)so that the life of Jesus may also be manifested in our bodies. ¹¹ For we who live are always being given over to death for Jesus' sake, so that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our mortal flesh. ¹² So ^(C)death is at work in us, but life in you.

¹³ Since we have ^(D)the same spirit of faith according to what has been written, ^(E)“I believed, and so I spoke,” we also believe, and so we also speak, ¹⁴ knowing that ^(F)he who raised the Lord Jesus ^(G)will raise us also with Jesus and ^(H)bring us with you into his presence. ¹⁵ For ^(I)it is all for your sake, so that as ^(J)grace extends to more and more people it may increase thanksgiving, ^(K)to the glory of God.

¹⁶ So we do not lose heart. ^(L)Though our outer self^[a] is wasting away, ^(M)our inner self ^(N)is being renewed day by day. ¹⁷ For ^(O)this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison,
