21 When we had parted from them and set sail, we came by a straight course to Cos, and the next day to Rhodes, and from there to Patara.^[a]

Paul’s Desire to Visit the Thessalonians Again

¹⁷ As for us, brothers and sisters, when for a short time we were made orphans by being separated from you—in person, not in heart—we longed with great eagerness to see you face to face.^(A)

⁴ When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, “Put out into the deep water and let down your nets for a catch.”^(A)

⁴ Putting out to sea from there, we sailed under the lee of Cyprus, because the winds were against us.

² Embarking on a ship of Adramyttium that was about to set sail to the ports along the coast of Asia, we put to sea, accompanied by Aristarchus, a Macedonian from Thessalonica.^(A)

³⁷ There was much weeping among them all; they embraced Paul and kissed him,^{(A) 38} grieving especially because of what he had said, that they would not see him again. Then they brought him to the ship.^(B)

¹⁰ When he had seen the vision, we immediately tried to cross over to Macedonia, being convinced that God had called us to proclaim the good news to them.^(A)

²² One day he got into a boat with his disciples, and he said to them, “Let us go across to the other side of the lake.” So they put out,^(A)

⁴¹ As soon as the boy had gone, David rose from beside the stone heap^[a] and prostrated himself with his face to the ground. He bowed three times, and they kissed each other and wept with each other; David wept the more.^{[b] 42} Then Jonathan said to David, “Go in peace, since both of us have sworn in the name of the Lord, saying, ‘The Lord shall be between me and you and between my descendants and your descendants forever.’ ” He got up and left, and Jonathan went into the city.^[c](A)
