⁴⁵ and ^[a]sold their possessions and goods, and ^(A)divided^[b] them among all, as anyone had need.

¹⁷ But ^(A)whoever has this world’s goods, and sees his brother in need, and shuts up his heart from him, how does the love of God abide in him?

¹⁸ Let them do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to give, willing to share, ^19 (A)storing up for themselves a good foundation for the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life.

Faith Without Works Is Dead^(A)

^14 (B)What does it profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can faith save him? ^15 (C)If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food, ¹⁶ and ^(D)one of you says to them, “Depart in peace, be warmed and filled,” but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit?

³⁴ Nor was there anyone among them who lacked; ^(A)for all who were possessors of lands or houses sold them, and brought the proceeds of the things that were sold, ^35 (B)and laid them at the apostles’ feet; ^(C)and they distributed to each as anyone had need.

³⁶ And ^[a]Joses, who was also named Barnabas by the apostles (which is translated Son of ^[b]Encouragement), a Levite of the country of Cyprus, ^37 (D)having land, sold it, and brought the money and laid it at the apostles’ feet.

Lying to the Holy Spirit

5 But a certain man named Ananias, with Sapphira his wife, sold a possession. ² And he kept back part of the proceeds, his wife also being aware of it, and brought a certain part and laid it at the apostles’ feet.

²² So when Jesus heard these things, He said to him, “You still lack one thing. ^(A)Sell all that you have and distribute to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me.”

⁹ As it is written:

²⁹ Then the disciples, each according to his ability, determined to send ^(A)relief to the brethren dwelling in Judea.
