Acts 2:40-47

40 With many other words he testified and strongly urged them, saying, “Be saved from this corrupt[a] generation!” (A) 41 So those who accepted his message were baptized, and that day about three thousand people were added to them.
A Generous and Growing Church
42 They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching,(B) to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread, and to prayer.(C)
43 Everyone was filled with awe, and many wonders and signs were being performed through the apostles.(D) 44 Now all the believers were together and held all things in common.(E) 45 They sold their possessions and property and distributed the proceeds to all, as any had need. 46 Every day they devoted themselves to meeting together in the temple, and broke bread from house to house. They ate their food with joyful and sincere hearts,(F) 47 praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. Every day the Lord added to their number[b] those who were being saved.(G)

4 While they were speaking to the people, the priests, the captain of the temple police, and the Sadducees confronted them,(A) 2 because they were annoyed that they were teaching the people and proclaiming in Jesus the resurrection of the dead.(B) 3 So they seized them and took them into custody until the next day since it was already evening. 4 But many of those who heard the message believed, and the number of the men[a] came to about five thousand.

12 Many signs and wonders were being done among the people through the hands of the apostles.(A) They were all together in Solomon’s Colonnade.(B) 13 No one else dared to join them, but the people spoke well of them.(C) 14 Believers were added to the Lord in increasing numbers—multitudes of both men and women. 15 As a result, they would carry the sick out into the streets and lay them on cots and mats so that when Peter came by, at least his shadow(D) might fall on some of them. 16 In addition, a multitude came together from the towns surrounding Jerusalem, bringing the sick and those who were tormented by unclean spirits, and they were all healed.
