²³ Him, ^(A)being delivered by the determined purpose and foreknowledge of God, ^(B)you ^[a]have taken by lawless hands, have crucified, and put to death; ^24 (C)whom God raised up, having ^[b]loosed the ^[c]pains of death, because it was not possible that He should be held by it.

¹⁹ You will say to me then, “Why does He still find fault? For ^(A)who has resisted His will?” ²⁰ But indeed, O man, who are you to reply against God? ^(B)Will the thing formed say to him who formed it, “Why have you made me like this?” ²¹ Does not the ^(C)potter have power over the clay, from the same lump to make ^(D)one vessel for honor and another for dishonor?

²² What if God, wanting to show His wrath and to make His power known, endured with much longsuffering ^(E)the vessels of wrath ^(F)prepared for destruction,

¹³ Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am tempted by God”; for God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He Himself tempt anyone. ¹⁴ But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed. ¹⁵ Then, ^(A)when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, ^(B)brings forth death.

¹⁶ Do not be deceived, my beloved brethren. ^17 (C)Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, ^(D)with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.
