²² “Fellow Israelites,^[a] listen to what I have to say: Jesus of Nazareth,^[b] a man attested to you by God with deeds of power, wonders, and signs that God did through him among you, as you yourselves know^(A)— ²³ this man, handed over to you according to the definite plan and foreknowledge of God, you crucified and killed by the hands of those outside the law.^{(B) 24} But God raised him up, having released him from the agony of death, because it was impossible for him to be held in its power.^(C)

³² “This Jesus God raised up, and of that all of us are witnesses.^{(A) 33} Being therefore exalted at^[a] the right hand of God and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, he has poured out this that you see and hear.^{(B) 34} For David did not ascend into the heavens, but he himself says,

³⁶ “Therefore let the entire house of Israel know with certainty that God has made him both Lord and Messiah,^[b] this Jesus whom you crucified.”

¹³ The God of Abraham and Isaac and Jacob,^[a] the God of our ancestors, has glorified his servant^[b] Jesus, whom you handed over and rejected in the presence of Pilate, though he had decided to release him.^{(A) 14} But you rejected the holy and righteous^[c] one and asked to have a murderer given to you,^{(B) 15} and you killed the author of life, whom God raised from the dead. To this we are witnesses.^(C)

¹⁰ let it be known to all of you, and to all the people of Israel, that this man is standing before you in good health by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth,^[a] whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead.^(A)

²⁴ When they heard it, they raised their voices together to God and said, “Sovereign Lord, who made the heaven and the earth, the sea, and everything in them,^{(A) 25} it is you who said by the Holy Spirit through our ancestor David, your servant:^[a]

²⁷ “For in this city, in fact, both Herod and Pontius Pilate, with the gentiles and the peoples of Israel, gathered together against your holy servant^[c] Jesus, whom you anointed,^{(D) 28} to do whatever your hand and your plan had predestined to take place.

²⁹ But Peter and the apostles answered, “We must obey God rather than any human authority.^{[a](A) 30} The God of our ancestors raised up Jesus, whom you had killed by hanging him on a tree.^{(B) 31} God exalted him at his right hand as Leader and Savior that he might give repentance to Israel and forgiveness of sins.^{(C) 32} And we are witnesses to these things, and so is the Holy Spirit whom God has given to those who obey him.”^(D)

³⁹ We are witnesses to all that he did both in Judea and in Jerusalem. They put him to death by hanging him on a tree,^{(A) 40} but God raised him on the third day and allowed him to appear,^{(B) 41} not to all the people but to us who were chosen by God as witnesses and who ate and drank with him after he rose from the dead.^{(C) 42} He commanded us to preach to the people and to testify that he is the one ordained by God as judge of the living and the dead.^{(D) 43} All the prophets testify about him that everyone who believes in him receives forgiveness of sins through his name.”^(E)

²⁷ Because the residents of Jerusalem and their leaders did not recognize him or understand the words of the prophets that are read every Sabbath, they fulfilled those words by condemning him.^{(A) 28} Even though they found no cause for a sentence of death, they asked Pilate to have him killed.^{(B) 29} When they had carried out everything that was written about him, they took him down from the tree and laid him in a tomb.^{(C) 30} But God raised him from the dead,^{(D) 31} and for many days he appeared to those who came up with him from Galilee to Jerusalem, and they are now his witnesses to the people.^(E)

³ For I handed on to you as of first importance what I in turn had received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the scriptures^{(A) 4} and that he was buried and that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the scriptures^{(B) 5} and that he appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve.^{(C) 6} Then he appeared to more than five hundred brothers and sisters at one time, most of whom are still alive, though some have died.^{[a] 7} Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles.^{(D) 8} Last of all, as to one untimely born, he appeared also to me.^(E)
