³² Some therefore cried one thing and some another, for the assembly was confused, and most of them did not know why they had come together.

³⁴ And some among the multitude cried one thing and some another.

So when he could not ascertain the truth because of the tumult, he commanded him to be taken into the barracks.

⁴⁰ For we are in danger of being ^[a]called in question for today’s uproar, there being no reason which we may give to account for this disorderly gathering.”

²⁹ So the whole city was filled with confusion, and rushed into the theater with one accord, having seized ^(A)Gaius and ^(B)Aristarchus, Macedonians, Paul’s travel companions.

A reed shaken by the wind? ²⁵ But what did you go out to see? A man clothed in soft garments? Indeed those who are gorgeously appareled and live in luxury are in kings’ courts. ²⁶ But what did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I say to you, and more than a prophet.
