Paul’s Third Missionary Journey
19 While Apollos was in Corinth, Paul traveled through the interior regions until he reached Ephesus, on the coast, where he found several believers.[a] 2 “Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?” he asked them.
“No,” they replied, “we haven’t even heard that there is a Holy Spirit.”
3 “Then what baptism did you experience?” he asked.
And they replied, “The baptism of John.”

Paul in Ephesus
19 While Apollos(A) was at Corinth,(B) Paul took the road through the interior and arrived at Ephesus.(C) There he found some disciples 2 and asked them, “Did you receive the Holy Spirit(D) when[a] you believed?”
They answered, “No, we have not even heard that there is a Holy Spirit.”
3 So Paul asked, “Then what baptism did you receive?”
“John’s baptism,” they replied.

19 Pendant qu’Apollos se trouvait à Corinthe, Paul, après avoir traversé la région montagneuse d’Asie Mineure, descendit à Ephèse. Il y rencontra un petit groupe de disciples et leur demanda : 2 Avez-vous reçu le Saint-Esprit quand vous êtes devenus croyants ?
Ils lui répondirent : Nous n’avons même pas entendu dire qu’il y ait un Saint-Esprit.
3 – Quel baptême avez-vous donc reçu ? poursuivit Paul.
– Celui de Jean-Baptiste, lui répondirent-ils.
