^5 (A)When Silas and Timothy had come from Macedonia, Paul was ^(B)compelled ^[a]by the Spirit, and testified to the Jews that Jesus is the Christ.

¹⁴ For the love of Christ compels us, because we judge thus: that ^(A)if One died for all, then all died;

^21 (A)testifying to Jews, and also to Greeks, ^(B)repentance toward God and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.

²⁸ for he vigorously refuted the Jews publicly, ^(A)showing from the Scriptures that Jesus is the Christ.

³ explaining and demonstrating ^(A)that the Christ had to suffer and rise again from the dead, and saying, “This Jesus whom I preach to you is the Christ.”

^14 (A)Then immediately the brethren sent Paul away, to go to the sea; but both Silas and Timothy remained there. ¹⁵ So those who conducted Paul brought him to Athens; and ^(B)receiving a command for Silas and Timothy to come to him with all speed, they departed.

The Philosophers at Athens

¹⁶ Now while Paul waited for them at Athens, ^(C)his spirit was provoked within him when he saw that the city was ^[a]given over to idols.

²² But Saul increased all the more in strength, ^(A)and confounded the Jews who dwelt in Damascus, proving that this Jesus is the Christ.

¹⁴ So the Spirit lifted me up and took me away, and I went in bitterness, in the ^[a]heat of my spirit; but ^(A)the hand of the Lord was strong upon me.
