²⁰ When they asked him to stay for a longer period, he declined.

Final Instructions

¹² Now concerning ^(A)our brother Apollos, I strongly urged him to visit you with the other brothers, but it was not at all his will^[a] to come now. He will come when he has opportunity.

¹³ Then Paul answered, ^(A)“What are you doing, weeping and breaking my heart? For ^(B)I am ready not only to be imprisoned but even to die in Jerusalem ^(C)for the name of the Lord Jesus.” ¹⁴ And since he would not be persuaded, ^(D)we ceased and said, ^(E)“Let the will of the Lord be done.”

¹⁶ For Paul had decided to sail past Ephesus, so that he might not have to spend time in Asia, for he was hastening ^(A)to be at Jerusalem, if possible, ^(B)on the day of Pentecost.

³⁷ and they found him and said to him, ^(A)“Everyone is looking for you.” ³⁸ And he said to them, “Let us go on to the next towns, that I may preach there also, for ^(B)that is why I came out.”
