Paul Returns to Antioch

¹⁸ After this, Paul stayed many days longer and then took leave of ^(A)the brothers^[a] and set sail for Syria, and with him ^(B)Priscilla and Aquila. At ^(C)Cenchreae ^(D)he had cut his hair, for he was under a vow.

²⁴ take these men and ^(A)purify yourself along with them and pay their expenses, ^(B)so that they may shave their heads. Thus all will know that there is nothing in what they have been told about you, but that you yourself also live in observance of the law.

¹⁸ And the Nazirite ^(A)shall shave his consecrated head at the entrance of the tent of meeting and shall take the hair from his consecrated head and put it on the fire that is under the sacrifice of the peace offering.

^20 (A)To the Jews I became as a Jew, in order to win Jews. To those under the law I became as one under the law (though not being myself under the law) that I might win those under the law.

16 I commend to you our sister Phoebe, a servant^[a] of the church at ^(A)Cenchreae,

² And he found a Jew named ^(A)Aquila, a native of Pontus, recently come from Italy with his wife ^(B)Priscilla, because ^(C)Claudius had commanded all the Jews to leave Rome. And he went to see them,

⁵ “All the days of his vow of separation, no ^(A)razor shall touch his head. Until the time is completed for which he separates himself to the Lord, he shall be holy. ^(B)He shall let the locks of hair of his head grow long.

⁶ “All the days that he separates himself to the Lord ^(C)he shall not go near a dead body. ^7 (D)Not even for his father or for his mother, for brother or sister, if they die, shall he make himself unclean, because his separation to God is on his head. ⁸ All the days of his separation he is holy to the Lord.

⁹ “And if any man dies very suddenly beside him and he defiles his consecrated head, then ^(E)he shall shave his head on the day of his cleansing; on the seventh day he shall shave it.

^21 (A)Then I went into the regions of Syria and Cilicia.

²³ with the following letter: ^(A)“The brothers, both ^(B)the apostles and the elders, to the brothers^[a] who are of the Gentiles in Antioch and Syria and Cilicia, ^(C)greetings.
