³² Now when they heard of ^(A)the resurrection of the dead, ^(B)some mocked. But others said, ^(C)“We will hear you again about this.”

¹⁸ Some of the Epicurean and Stoic philosophers also conversed with him. And some said, ^(A)“What does this babbler wish to say?” Others said, “He seems to be a preacher of foreign divinities”—because ^(B)he was preaching ^(C)Jesus and the resurrection.

⁸ Why is it thought ^(A)incredible by any of you that God raises the dead?

²⁵ And as he reasoned ^(A)about righteousness and self-control and the coming judgment, Felix was alarmed and said, “Go away for the present. ^(B)When I get an opportunity I will summon you.”

¹³ But others ^(A)mocking said, “They are filled with new wine.”

A Rest for the People of God

⁷ Therefore, as the Holy Spirit says,

² For he says,

Behold, ^(B)now is the ^(C)favorable time; behold, now is the day of salvation.

^10 (A)We are fools for Christ's sake, but ^(B)you are wise in Christ. ^(C)We are weak, but you are strong. You are held in honor, but we in disrepute.

²⁴ And as he was saying these things in his defense, Festus said with a loud voice, “Paul, ^(A)you are out of your mind; your great learning is driving you out of your mind.” ²⁵ But Paul said, “I am not out of my mind, ^(B)most excellent Festus, but I am speaking ^(C)true and ^(D)rational words.

¹⁹ Rather they ^(A)had certain points of dispute with him about their own religion and about ^(B)a certain Jesus, who was dead, but whom Paul asserted to be alive.
