²¹ For all the Athenians and the foreigners who were there spent their time in nothing else but either to tell or to hear some new thing.

¹⁶ But shun profane and ^[a]idle babblings, for they will ^[b]increase to more ungodliness. ¹⁷ And their message will spread like cancer. ^(A)Hymenaeus and Philetus are of this sort,

^5 (A)Walk in ^(B)wisdom toward those who are outside, ^(C)redeeming the time.

^16 (A)redeeming the time, ^(B)because the days are evil.

¹³ And besides they learn to be idle, wandering about from house to house, and not only idle but also gossips and busybodies, saying things which they ought not.

¹¹ For we hear that there are some who walk among you in a disorderly manner, not working at all, but are ^(A)busybodies. ¹² Now those who are such we command and ^[a]exhort through our Lord Jesus Christ ^(B)that they work in quietness and eat their own bread.
