³⁴ Then he brought them up into his house and set food before them. And he ^(A)rejoiced along with his entire household that he had believed in God.

¹³ May the God of hope fill you with all ^(A)joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.

⁴⁶ And day by day, ^(A)attending the temple ^(B)together and ^(C)breaking bread in their homes, they received their food ^(D)with glad and generous hearts,

¹⁸ Little children, let us not ^(A)love in word or talk but in deed and ^(B)in truth.

⁶ In this you rejoice, though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been grieved by ^(A)various trials, ⁷ so that ^(B)the tested genuineness of your faith—more precious than gold that perishes ^(C)though it is tested by ^(D)fire—may be found to result in ^(E)praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ. ^8 (F)Though you have not seen him, you love him. ^(G)Though you do not now see him, you believe in him and rejoice with joy that is inexpressible and filled with glory,

Faith Without Works Is Dead

¹⁴ What good is it, my brothers, if someone says he has faith ^(A)but does not have works? Can that faith save him? ^15 (B)If a brother or sister is poorly clothed and lacking in daily food, ^16 (C)and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, be warmed and filled,” without giving them the things needed for the body, what good^[a] is that? ¹⁷ So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.

⁷ For I have derived much joy and ^(A)comfort from your love, my brother, because the hearts of the saints ^(B)have been refreshed through you.

⁹ Now concerning ^(A)brotherly love ^(B)you have no need for anyone to write to you, for you yourselves have been ^(C)taught by God ^(D)to love one another, ¹⁰ for that indeed is what ^(E)you are doing to all the brothers throughout Macedonia. But we urge you, brothers, to ^(F)do this more and more,
