¹⁸ She kept this up for many days. Finally Paul became so annoyed that he turned around and said to the spirit, “In the name of Jesus Christ I command you to come out of her!” At that moment the spirit left her.^(A)

¹⁷ And these signs^(A) will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons;^(B) they will speak in new tongues;^(C)

¹⁷ The seventy-two^(A) returned with joy and said, “Lord, even the demons submit to us in your name.”^(B)

¹⁸ He replied, “I saw Satan^(C) fall like lightning from heaven.^{(D) 19} I have given you authority to trample on snakes^(E) and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you.

¹² so that even handkerchiefs and aprons that had touched him were taken to the sick, and their illnesses were cured^(A) and the evil spirits left them.

¹³ Some Jews who went around driving out evil spirits^(B) tried to invoke the name of the Lord Jesus over those who were demon-possessed. They would say, “In the name of the Jesus^(C) whom Paul preaches, I command you to come out.” ¹⁴ Seven sons of Sceva, a Jewish chief priest, were doing this. ¹⁵ One day the evil spirit answered them, “Jesus I know, and Paul I know about, but who are you?” ¹⁶ Then the man who had the evil spirit jumped on them and overpowered them all. He gave them such a beating that they ran out of the house naked and bleeding.

¹⁷ When this became known to the Jews and Greeks living in Ephesus,^(D) they were all seized with fear,^(E) and the name of the Lord Jesus was held in high honor.

³⁴ “Aeneas,” Peter said to him, “Jesus Christ heals you.^(A) Get up and roll up your mat.” Immediately Aeneas got up.

⁶ Then Peter said, “Silver or gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth,^(A) walk.”

²⁵ When Jesus saw that a crowd was running to the scene,^(A) he rebuked the impure spirit. “You deaf and mute spirit,” he said, “I command you, come out of him and never enter him again.”

²⁶ The spirit shrieked, convulsed him violently and came out. The boy looked so much like a corpse that many said, “He’s dead.”

³⁴ and Jesus healed many who had various diseases.^(A) He also drove out many demons, but he would not let the demons speak because they knew who he was.^(B)

¹⁵ And having disarmed the powers and authorities,^(A) he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them^(B) by the cross.^[a]
