¹⁸ And this she kept doing for many days. Paul, having become greatly annoyed, turned and said to the spirit, ^(A)“I command you ^(B)in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her.” And ^(C)it came out that very hour.

¹⁷ And ^(A)these signs will accompany those who believe: ^(B)in my name they will cast out demons; ^(C)they will speak in new tongues;

The Return of the Seventy-Two

^17 (A)The seventy-two returned with joy, saying, “Lord, ^(B)even the demons are subject to us in your name!” ¹⁸ And he said to them, ^(C)“I saw Satan ^(D)fall like lightning from heaven. ¹⁹ Behold, I have given you authority ^(E)to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of ^(F)the enemy, and ^(G)nothing shall hurt you.

^12 (A)so that even handkerchiefs or aprons that had touched his skin were carried away to the sick, and their diseases left them and ^(B)the evil spirits came out of them. ¹³ Then some of the itinerant Jewish ^(C)exorcists ^(D)undertook to invoke the name of the Lord Jesus over those who had evil spirits, saying, ^(E)“I adjure you by the Jesus whom Paul proclaims.” ¹⁴ Seven sons of a Jewish high priest named Sceva were doing this. ¹⁵ But the evil spirit answered them, ^(F)“Jesus I know, and Paul I recognize, but who are you?” ¹⁶ And the man in whom was the evil spirit leaped on them, mastered all^[a] of them and overpowered them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded. ¹⁷ And this became known to all the residents of Ephesus, both Jews and Greeks. And fear fell upon them all, and ^(G)the name of the Lord Jesus was extolled.

³⁴ And Peter said to him, “Aeneas, ^(A)Jesus Christ heals you; rise and make your bed.” And immediately he rose.

⁶ But Peter said, ^(A)“I have no silver and gold, but what I do have I give to you. ^(B)In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk!”

²⁵ And when Jesus saw that ^(A)a crowd came running together, he rebuked the unclean spirit, saying to it, ^(B)“You mute and deaf spirit, I command you, come out of him and never enter him again.” ²⁶ And after crying out and ^(C)convulsing him terribly, it came out, and the boy was like a corpse, so that most of them said, “He is dead.”

^34 (A)And he healed many who were sick with various diseases, and cast out many demons. And ^(B)he would not permit the demons to speak, because they knew him.

^15 (A)He disarmed the rulers and authorities^[a] and ^(B)put them to open shame, by ^(C)triumphing over them in him.^[b]
