¹⁴ Now a certain woman named Lydia heard us. She was a seller of purple from the city of ^(A)Thyatira, who worshiped God. ^(B)The Lord opened her heart to heed the things spoken by Paul.

¹⁷ that ^(A)the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, ^(B)may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, ^18 (C)the eyes of your ^[a]understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is ^(D)the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints,

⁴⁵ And ^(A)He opened their understanding, that they might comprehend the Scriptures.

^44 (A)No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me ^(B)draws him; and I will raise him up at the last day. ⁴⁵ It is written in the prophets, ^(C)‘And they shall all be taught by God.’ ^(D)Therefore everyone who ^[a]has heard and learned from the Father comes to Me.

²⁰ Behold, ^(A)I stand at the door and knock. ^(B)If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, ^(C)I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.

¹⁴ But ^(A)their minds were blinded. For until this day the same veil remains unlifted in the reading of the Old Testament, because the veil is taken away in Christ. ¹⁵ But even to this day, when Moses is read, a veil lies on their heart. ¹⁶ Nevertheless ^(B)when one turns to the Lord, ^(C)the veil is taken away.

⁴ whose minds ^(A)the god of this age ^(B)has blinded, who do not believe, lest ^(C)the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, ^(D)who is the image of God, should shine on them. ^5 (E)For we do not preach ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord, and ^(F)ourselves your bondservants for Jesus’ sake. ⁶ For it is the God ^(G)who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who has ^(H)shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

¹⁶ So then it is not of him who wills, nor of him who runs, but of God who shows mercy.
