¹² From there we traveled to Philippi,^(A) a Roman colony and the leading city of that district^[a] of Macedonia.^(B) And we stayed there several days.

² We had previously suffered^(A) and been treated outrageously in Philippi,^(B) as you know, but with the help of our God we dared to tell you his gospel in the face of strong opposition.^(C)

1 Paul and Timothy,^(A) servants of Christ Jesus,

To all God’s holy people^(B) in Christ Jesus at Philippi,^(C) together with the overseers^(D) and deacons^[a]:^(E)

⁶ But we sailed from Philippi^(A) after the Festival of Unleavened Bread, and five days later joined the others at Troas,^(B) where we stayed seven days.

²¹ by advocating customs unlawful for us Romans^(A) to accept or practice.”^(B)

⁹ During the night Paul had a vision^(A) of a man of Macedonia^(B) standing and begging him, “Come over to Macedonia and help us.”
