⁶ The apostles and the elders met together to consider this matter.

²³ with the following letter: “The brothers, both the apostles and the elders, to the believers^[a] of Gentile origin in Antioch and Syria and Cilicia, greetings.

¹⁴ Do not neglect the gift that is in you, which was given to you through prophecy with the laying on of hands by the council of elders.^[a]

²² Do not ordain^[a] anyone hastily, and do not participate in the sins of others; keep yourself pure.

¹⁷ Let the elders who rule well be considered worthy of double honor,^[a] especially those who labor in preaching and teaching;

The Prayer of Faith

¹³ Are any among you suffering? They should pray. Are any cheerful? They should sing songs of praise. ¹⁴ Are any among you sick? They should call for the elders of the church and have them pray over them, anointing them with oil in the name of the Lord. ¹⁵ The prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise them up; and anyone who has committed sins will be forgiven.
