^14 (A)Simon has declared how God at the first visited the Gentiles to take out of them a people for His name.

Greeting the Faithful

1 Simon Peter, a bondservant and ^(A)apostle of Jesus Christ,

To those who have ^[a]obtained ^(B)like^[b] precious faith with us by the righteousness of our God and Savior Jesus Christ:

⁷ And when there had been much dispute, Peter rose up and said to them: ^(A)“Men and brethren, you know that a good while ago God chose among us, that by my mouth the Gentiles should hear the word of the gospel and believe. ⁸ So God, ^(B)who knows the heart, ^[a]acknowledged them by ^(C)giving them the Holy Spirit, just as He did to us, ^9 (D)and made no distinction between us and them, ^(E)purifying their hearts by faith.

⁹ But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of ^(A)darkness into His marvelous light; ^10 (B)who once were not a people but are now the people of God, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy.

⁵ Through Him ^(A)we have received grace and apostleship for ^(B)obedience to the faith among all nations ^(C)for His name,

³⁶ For ^(A)of Him and through Him and to Him are all things, ^(B)to whom be glory forever. Amen.
