²² There they strengthened the souls of the disciples and encouraged them to continue in the faith, saying, “It is through many persecutions that we must enter the kingdom of God.”^(A)

¹⁰ And after you have suffered for a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ,^[a] will himself restore, support, strengthen, and establish you.^(A)

¹² Indeed, all who want to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted.^(A)

³³ I have said this to you so that in me you may have peace. In the world you face persecution, but take courage: I have conquered the world!”^(A)

² and sent Timothy, our brother and God’s coworker^[a] in the gospel of Christ, to strengthen and encourage you for the sake of your faith,^{(A) 3} so that no one would be shaken by these persecutions. Indeed, you yourselves know that this is what we are destined for.^{(B) 4} In fact, when we were with you, we told you beforehand that we were to suffer persecution; so it turned out, as you know.

¹⁰ Do not fear what you are about to suffer. Beware, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison so that you may be tested, and for ten days you will have affliction. Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life.^(A)

¹⁷ and if children, then heirs: heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if we in fact suffer with him so that we may also be glorified with him.^(A)

²³ provided that you continue securely established and steadfast in the faith, without shifting from the hope promised by the gospel that you heard, which has been proclaimed to every creature^[a] under heaven. I, Paul, became a minister of this gospel.^(A)

⁸ Do not be ashamed, then, of the testimony about our Lord or of me his prisoner, but join with me in suffering for the gospel, in the power of God,^(A)

²³ After spending some time there he departed and went from place to place through the region of Galatia^[a] and Phrygia, strengthening all the disciples.^(A)
