^22 (A)strengthening the souls of the disciples, encouraging them ^(B)to continue in ^(C)the faith, and saying that ^(D)through many tribulations we must enter the kingdom of God.

¹⁰ And ^(A)after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, ^(B)who has called you to his ^(C)eternal glory in Christ, will himself ^(D)restore, ^(E)confirm, strengthen, and establish you.

¹² Indeed, all who desire to ^(A)live a godly life in Christ Jesus ^(B)will be persecuted,

³³ I have said these things to you, that ^(A)in me you may have peace. ^(B)In the world you will have ^(C)tribulation. But ^(D)take heart; ^(E)I have overcome the world.”

² and we ^(A)sent Timothy, ^(B)our brother and God's coworker^[a] in the gospel of Christ, to establish and exhort you in your faith, ³ that no one be moved by these afflictions. For you yourselves know that ^(C)we are destined for this. ⁴ For when we were with you, we kept telling you beforehand that we were to suffer affliction, ^(D)just as it has come to pass, and just as you know.

¹⁰ Do not fear what you are about to suffer. Behold, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison, ^(A)that you may be tested, and for ^(B)ten days ^(C)you will have tribulation. ^(D)Be faithful ^(E)unto death, and I will give you ^(F)the crown of life.

¹⁷ and if children, then ^(A)heirs—heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, ^(B)provided we suffer with him in order that we may also be glorified with him.

^23 (A)if indeed you continue in the faith, ^(B)stable and steadfast, not shifting from ^(C)the hope of the gospel that you heard, which has been proclaimed ^(D)in all creation^[a] under heaven, ^(E)and of which I, Paul, became a minister.

⁸ Therefore ^(A)do not be ashamed of ^(B)the testimony about our Lord, nor of ^(C)me his prisoner, but ^(D)share in suffering for the gospel by the power of God,
