²⁰ But when the disciples gathered about him, he rose up and entered the city, and on the next day he went on with Barnabas to Derbe.

⁹ as unknown, and ^(A)yet well known; ^(B)as dying, and behold, we live; ^(C)as punished, and yet not killed;

⁹ Indeed, we felt that we had received the sentence of death. But that was to make us ^(A)rely not on ourselves ^(B)but on God ^(C)who raises the dead. ^10 (D)He delivered us from such a deadly peril, and he will deliver us. ^(E)On him we have set our hope that he will deliver us again.

Paul in Macedonia and Greece

20 After the uproar ceased, Paul sent for the disciples, and after encouraging them, he said farewell and ^(A)departed for Macedonia.

⁴⁰ So they went out of the prison and visited ^(A)Lydia. And when they had seen ^(B)the brothers, they encouraged them and departed.

⁶ they learned of it and ^(A)fled to ^(B)Lystra and Derbe, cities of Lycaonia, and to the surrounding country,

⁷ And when they have finished their testimony, ^(A)the beast that rises from ^(B)the bottomless pit^{[a] (C)}will make war on them and conquer them and kill them, ⁸ and their dead bodies will lie in the street of the great city that symbolically^[b] is called ^(D)Sodom and ^(E)Egypt, where their Lord was crucified. ⁹ For three and a half days some from the peoples and tribes and languages and nations will gaze at their dead bodies and ^(F)refuse to let them be placed in a tomb, ¹⁰ and ^(G)those who dwell on the earth will rejoice over them and make merry and ^(H)exchange presents, because these two prophets ^(I)had been a torment to those who dwell on the earth. ¹¹ But after the three and a half days ^(J)a breath of life from God entered them, and they stood up on their feet, and great fear fell on those who saw them. ¹² Then they heard a loud voice from heaven saying to them, ^(K)“Come up here!” And ^(L)they went up to heaven ^(M)in a cloud, and their enemies watched them.

⁹ And a young man named Eutychus, sitting at the window, sank into a deep sleep as Paul talked still longer. And being overcome by sleep, he ^(A)fell down from the third story and was taken up dead. ¹⁰ But Paul went down and ^(B)bent over him, and taking him in his arms, said, ^(C)“Do not be alarmed, for his life is in him.” ¹¹ And when Paul had gone up and ^(D)had broken bread and eaten, he conversed with them a long while, until daybreak, and so departed. ¹² And they took the youth away alive, and were not a little comforted.

Timothy Joins Paul and Silas

16 Paul^[a] came also to Derbe and to Lystra. A disciple was there, named ^(A)Timothy, ^(B)the son of a Jewish woman who was a believer, but his father was a Greek.
