¹⁸ And with these sayings they could scarcely restrain the multitudes from sacrificing to them.

¹⁶ “As for the word that you have spoken to us in the name of the Lord, ^(A)we will not listen to you! ¹⁷ But we will certainly do ^(B)whatever has gone out of our own mouth, to burn incense to the ^(C)queen of heaven and pour out drink offerings to her, as we have done, we and our fathers, our kings and our princes, in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem. For then we had plenty of ^[a]food, were well-off, and saw no trouble.

Jesus Walks on the Sea^(A)

¹⁵ Therefore when Jesus perceived that they were about to come and take Him by force to make Him ^(B)king, He departed again to the mountain by Himself alone.

²¹ And Moses said to Aaron, ^(A)“What did this people do to you that you have brought so great a sin upon them?”

²² So Aaron said, “Do not let the anger of my lord become hot. ^(B)You know the people, that they are set on evil. ²³ For they said to me, ‘Make us gods that shall go before us; as for this Moses, the man who brought us out of the land of Egypt, we do not know what has become of him.’

⁹ And they said, “Stand back!” Then they said, “This one ^(A)came in to ^[a]stay here, ^(B)and he keeps acting as a judge; now we will deal worse with you than with them.” So they pressed hard against the man Lot, and came near to break down the door.

⁶ And the Lord said, “Indeed ^(A)the people are one and they all have ^(B)one language, and this is what they begin to do; now nothing that they ^(C)propose to do will be withheld from them.
