¹⁵ “Friends,^[a] why are you doing this? We are merely human beings—just like you! We have come to bring you the Good News that you should turn from these worthless things and turn to the living God, who made heaven and earth, the sea, and everything in them.

¹⁷ Elijah was as human as we are, and yet when he prayed earnestly that no rain would fall, none fell for three and a half years!

²⁶ But Peter pulled him up and said, “Stand up! I’m a human being just like you!”

²¹ Don’t go back to worshiping worthless idols that cannot help or rescue you—they are totally useless!

⁷ “Fear God,” he shouted. “Give glory to him. For the time has come when he will sit as judge. Worship him who made the heavens, the earth, the sea, and all the springs of water.”

⁴ So, what about eating meat that has been offered to idols? Well, we all know that an idol is not really a god and that there is only one God.

⁹ for they keep talking about the wonderful welcome you gave us and how you turned away from idols to serve the living and true God.
