^45 (A)But ^(B)when the Jews^[a] saw the crowds, they were filled with ^(C)jealousy and began to contradict what was spoken by Paul, ^(D)reviling him. ⁴⁶ And Paul and Barnabas spoke out boldly, saying, “It was necessary that the word of God ^(E)be spoken first to you. ^(F)Since you thrust it aside and judge yourselves ^(G)unworthy of eternal life, behold, we ^(H)are turning to the Gentiles. ^47 (I)For so the Lord has commanded us, saying,

⁴⁸ And when the Gentiles heard this, they began rejoicing and ^(M)glorifying the word of the Lord, and as many as were appointed to eternal life believed. ⁴⁹ And the word of the Lord was spreading throughout the whole region. ^50 (N)But the Jews incited the devout ^(O)women of high standing and the leading men of the city, ^(P)stirred up persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and ^(Q)drove them out of their district.

¹⁸ So they called them and charged them not to speak or teach at all in the name of Jesus.

^9 (A)But when some became stubborn and ^(B)continued in unbelief, speaking evil of ^(C)the Way before the congregation, he withdrew from them and took the disciples with him, reasoning daily in the hall of Tyrannus.^[a]

^16 (A)by hindering us from speaking to the Gentiles that they might be saved—so as always ^(B)to fill up the measure of their sins. But ^(C)wrath has come upon them at last!^[a]

²⁹ How much worse punishment, do you think, will be deserved by the one ^(A)who has trampled underfoot the Son of God, and has profaned ^(B)the blood of the covenant ^(C)by which he was sanctified, and has ^(D)outraged the Spirit of grace?
