³¹ and for many days he was seen by those who had traveled with him from Galilee to Jerusalem.^(A) They are now his witnesses^(B) to our people.

³ After his suffering, he presented himself to them and gave many convincing proofs that he was alive. He appeared to them^(A) over a period of forty days and spoke about the kingdom of God.^(B)

⁴⁸ You are witnesses^(A) of these things.

⁵ and that he appeared to Cephas,^[a](A) and then to the Twelve.^{(B) 6} After that, he appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers and sisters at the same time, most of whom are still living, though some have fallen asleep.^{(C) 7} Then he appeared to James,^(D) then to all the apostles,^(E)

¹¹ “Men of Galilee,”^(A) they said, “why do you stand here looking into the sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back^(B) in the same way you have seen him go into heaven.”

⁸ But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you;^(A) and you will be my witnesses^(B) in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria,^(C) and to the ends of the earth.”^(D)

The Great Commission

¹⁶ Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go.^(A)

³ how shall we escape if we ignore so great a salvation?^(A) This salvation, which was first announced by the Lord,^(B) was confirmed to us by those who heard him.^{(C) 4} God also testified to it by signs, wonders and various miracles,^(D) and by gifts of the Holy Spirit^(E) distributed according to his will.^(F)

⁴¹ He was not seen by all the people,^(A) but by witnesses whom God had already chosen—by us who ate^(B) and drank with him after he rose from the dead.
