² While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, “Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.”^(A)

¹⁵ But when the one^[a] who had set me apart before I was born and called me through his grace was pleased^(A)

¹⁵ But the Lord said to him, “Go, for he is an instrument whom I have chosen to bring my name before gentiles and kings and before the people of Israel;^(A)

¹¹ For this gospel I was appointed a herald and an apostle and a teacher,^[a](A)

¹¹ All these are activated by one and the same Spirit, who allots to each one individually just as the Spirit chooses.^(A)

Salutation

1 Paul, a servant of Christ Jesus, called to be an apostle, set apart for the gospel of God,

⁷ For this I was appointed a herald and an apostle (I am telling the truth;^[a] I am not lying), a teacher of the gentiles in faith and truth.^(A)

²¹ Then he said to me, ‘Go, for I will send you far away to the gentiles.’ ”^(A)

²⁶ From there they sailed back to Antioch, where they had been commended to the grace of God for the work^[a] that they had completed.^(A)

³ Then I turned to the Lord God to seek an answer by prayer and supplication with fasting and sackcloth and ashes.^(A)
