¹⁰ and said, “You ^(A)son of the devil, you enemy of all righteousness, full of all deceit and ^(B)villainy, will you not stop ^(C)making crooked ^(D)the straight paths of the Lord?

^44 (A)You are of your father the devil, and your will is to do your father's desires. ^(B)He was a murderer from the beginning, and ^(C)does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. ^(D)When he lies, he speaks out of his own character, for he is a liar and the father of lies.

³⁸ The field is the world, and the good seed is ^(A)the sons of the kingdom. The weeds are ^(B)the sons of the evil one,

^7 (A)not that there is another one, but ^(B)there are some who trouble you and want to distort the gospel of Christ.

³ But I am afraid that ^(A)as the serpent deceived Eve by his cunning, your thoughts ^(B)will be led astray from a ^(C)sincere and ^(D)pure devotion to Christ.

⁵² Woe to you ^(A)lawyers! ^(B)For you have taken away the key of ^(C)knowledge. You ^(D)did not enter yourselves, and you hindered those who were entering.”

^8 (A)Whoever makes a practice of sinning is of the devil, for the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was ^(B)to destroy the works of the devil.

²⁰ But Peter said to him, ^(A)“May your silver perish with you, because you thought you could obtain the gift of God ^(B)with money! ²¹ You have neither part nor lot in this matter, for ^(C)your heart is not right before God. ²² Repent, therefore, of this wickedness of yours, and pray to the Lord that, ^(D)if possible, the intent of your heart may be forgiven you. ²³ For I see that you are in ^(E)the gall^[a] of bitterness and in ^(F)the bond of iniquity.”
