Paul and Barnabas Are Sent to the Gentiles

13 Now ^(A)in the church that was at Antioch there were certain prophets and teachers: ^(B)Barnabas, Simeon who was called Niger, ^(C)Lucius of Cyrene, Manaen who had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch, and Saul.

³⁶ And ^[a]Joses, who was also named Barnabas by the apostles (which is translated Son of ^[b]Encouragement), a Levite of the country of Cyprus,

^35 (A)Paul and Barnabas also remained in Antioch, teaching and preaching the word of the Lord, with many others also.

²² Then news of these things came to the ears of the church in Jerusalem, and they sent out ^(A)Barnabas to go as far as Antioch. ²³ When he came and had seen the grace of God, he was glad, and ^(B)encouraged them all that with purpose of heart they should continue with the Lord. ²⁴ For he was a good man, ^(C)full of the Holy Spirit and of faith. ^(D)And a great many people were added to the Lord.

²⁵ Then Barnabas departed for ^(E)Tarsus to seek Saul. ²⁶ And when he had found him, he brought him to Antioch. So it was that for a whole year they assembled with the church and taught a great many people. And the disciples were first called Christians in Antioch.

Relief to Judea

²⁷ And in these days ^(F)prophets came from Jerusalem to Antioch.

⁹ and when James, ^[a]Cephas, and John, who seemed to be ^(A)pillars, perceived ^(B)the grace that had been given to me, they gave me and Barnabas the right hand of fellowship, ^(C)that we should go to the Gentiles and they to the circumcised.

⁹ Then Saul, who also is called Paul, ^(A)filled with the Holy Spirit, looked intently at him

¹¹ And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers,

³² Now Judas and Silas, themselves being ^(A)prophets also, ^(B)exhorted and strengthened the brethren with many words.

John the Baptist Prepares the Way^(A)

3 Now in the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar, ^(B)Pontius Pilate being governor of Judea, Herod being tetrarch of Galilee, his brother Philip tetrarch of Iturea and the region of Trachonitis, and Lysanias tetrarch of Abilene,

²² All the saints greet you, but especially those who are of Caesar’s household.
