Acts 12:18-23

¹⁸ Now as soon as it was day, there was no small commotion among the soldiers as to what had become of Peter.

¹⁹ And when Herod had asked for and not found him, he examined the guards, and commanded them to be led away for punishment. And he went down from Judea to Caesarea and stayed there.

²⁰ Then Herod was angry with those of Tyre and Sidon. But they all came to him with one mind. And having befriended Blastus, the King’s chamberlain, they asked for peace, because their country was nourished by the King.

²¹ And upon an appointed day, Herod clothed himself in royal apparel, and sat on the judgment seat, and made a speech to them.

²² And the people gave a shout, saying, “The voice of God, and not of man!”

²³ But immediately the Angel of the Lord struck him - so that he was eaten by worms and gave up the ghost - because he did not give glory to God.
