James Killed and Peter Imprisoned

12 About that time Herod the king laid violent hands on some who belonged to the church.

⁹ “Then ^(A)they will deliver you up ^(B)to tribulation and ^(C)put you to death, and ^(D)you will be hated by all nations for my name's sake.

²⁰ Remember the word that I said to you: ^(A)‘A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted me, ^(B)they will also persecute you. ^(C)If they kept my word, they will also keep yours.

¹⁷ Beware of men, for ^(A)they will deliver you over to courts and flog you ^(B)in their synagogues, ^18 (C)and you will be dragged before governors and kings for my sake, ^(D)to bear witness before them and the Gentiles.

^2 (A)They will put you out of the synagogues. Indeed, ^(B)the hour is coming when ^(C)whoever kills you will think he is offering service to God.

⁵³ When ^(A)I was with you day after day in the temple, you did not lay hands on me. But this is ^(B)your hour, and ^(C)the power of darkness.”

³⁰ while ^(A)you stretch out your hand to heal, and signs and wonders are performed ^(B)through the name of your ^(C)holy servant Jesus.”

³¹ So ^(A)the church throughout all Judea and Galilee and Samaria had peace and was being built up. And ^(B)walking in the fear of the Lord and in the comfort of the Holy Spirit, ^(C)it multiplied.
