²⁴ for he was a good man, ^(A)full of the Holy Spirit and of faith. And a great many people ^(B)were added to the Lord.

²¹ And ^(A)the hand of the Lord was with them, and a great number who believed ^(B)turned to the Lord.

¹⁴ And ^(A)more than ever believers were added to the Lord, multitudes of both men and women,

⁵ And what they said pleased the whole gathering, and they chose Stephen, ^(A)a man full of faith and ^(B)of the Holy Spirit, and ^(C)Philip, and Prochorus, and Nicanor, and Timon, and Parmenas, and Nicolaus, ^(D)a proselyte of Antioch.

Stephen Is Seized

⁸ And Stephen, full of grace and ^(A)power, was doing great wonders and signs among the people.

²⁷ The watchman said, “I think the running of the first is ^(A)like the running of Ahimaaz the son of Zadok.” And the king said, ^(B)“He is a good man and comes with good news.”

¹⁵ But on some points I have written to you very boldly by way of reminder, ^(A)because of the grace given me by God

⁷ For one will scarcely die for a righteous person—though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die—

¹⁶ So I always ^(A)take pains to have a ^(B)clear conscience toward both God and man.
