¹⁴ He will bring you a message^(A) through which you and all your household^(B) will be saved.’

¹⁵ When she and the members of her household^(A) were baptized,^(B) she invited us to her home. “If you consider me a believer in the Lord,” she said, “come and stay at my house.” And she persuaded us.

²² The men replied, “We have come from Cornelius the centurion. He is a righteous and God-fearing man,^(A) who is respected by all the Jewish people. A holy angel told him to ask you to come to his house so that he could hear what you have to say.”^(B)

⁹ We accept human testimony,^(A) but God’s testimony is greater because it is the testimony of God,^(B) which he has given about his Son. ¹⁰ Whoever believes in the Son of God accepts this testimony.^(C) Whoever does not believe God has made him out to be a liar,^(D) because they have not believed the testimony God has given about his Son. ¹¹ And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life,^(E) and this life is in his Son.^{(F) 12} Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life.^(G)

Concluding Affirmations

¹³ I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God^(H) so that you may know that you have eternal life.^(I)

³¹ They replied, “Believe^(A) in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved^(B)—you and your household.”^{(C) 32} Then they spoke the word of the Lord to him and to all the others in his house. ³³ At that hour of the night^(D) the jailer took them and washed their wounds; then immediately he and all his household were baptized.^{(E) 34} The jailer brought them into his house and set a meal before them; he^(F) was filled with joy because he had come to believe in God—he and his whole household.

³² Send to Joppa for Simon who is called Peter. He is a guest in the home of Simon the tanner, who lives by the sea.’ ³³ So I sent for you immediately, and it was good of you to come. Now we are all here in the presence of God to listen to everything the Lord has commanded you to tell us.”

⁶ He is staying with Simon the tanner,^(A) whose house is by the sea.”

² He and all his family were devout and God-fearing;^(A) he gave generously to those in need and prayed to God regularly.
