³⁵ but in every people anyone who fears him and practices righteousness^[a] is acceptable to him.^(A)

Children of God

²⁹ If you perceive that he is righteous, you also know that everyone who does right has been born of him.^(A)

² He was a devout man who feared God with all his household; he gave alms generously to the people and prayed constantly to God.

⁹ and in cleansing their hearts by faith he has made no distinction between them and us.^(A)

7 Since we have these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from every defilement of flesh and of spirit, making holiness perfect in the fear of God.^(A)

¹¹ In that renewal^[a] there is no longer Greek and Jew, circumcised and uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, enslaved and free, but Christ is all and in all!^(A)

The Examples of Abel, Enoch, and Noah

⁴ By faith Abel offered to God a more acceptable^[a] sacrifice than Cain’s. Through this he received approval as righteous, God himself giving approval to his gifts; he died, but through his faith^[b] he still speaks.^{(A) 5} By faith Enoch was taken so that he did not experience death, and “he was not found, because God had taken him.” For it was attested before he was taken away that “he had pleased God.”^{(B) 6} And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would approach God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.

¹² For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; the same Lord is Lord of all and is generous to all who call on him.^{(A) 13} For “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.”^(B)
