He was a devout man and feared God along with his whole household. He did many charitable deeds for the Jewish people and always prayed to God.(A) About three in the afternoon[a] he distinctly saw in a vision an angel of God who came in and said to him, ‘Cornelius.’(B)

Staring at him in awe, he said, ‘What is it, Lord? ’

The angel told him, ‘Your prayers and your acts of charity have ascended as a memorial offering before God.(C)

A devout man, and one that feared God with all his house, which gave much alms to the people, and prayed to God alway.

He saw in a vision evidently about the ninth hour of the day an angel of God coming in to him, and saying unto him, Cornelius.

And when he looked on him, he was afraid, and said, What is it, Lord? And he said unto him, Thy prayers and thine alms are come up for a memorial before God.
