The Ascension

⁹ And after He had said these things, ^(A)He was lifted up while they were watching, and a cloud took Him up, out of their sight. ¹⁰ And as they were gazing intently into the sky while He was going, then behold, ^(B)two men in white clothing stood beside them, ¹¹ and they said, “^(C)Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into the sky? This Jesus, who ^(D)has been taken up from you into heaven, will ^(E)come in the same way as you have watched Him go into heaven.”

The Upper Room

¹² Then they ^(F)returned to Jerusalem from the ^[a](G)mountain called ^[b]Olivet, which is near Jerusalem, a ^[c]Sabbath day’s journey away.

Jesus Comforts His Disciples

14 “^(A)Do not let your heart be troubled; ^[a]believe in God, believe also in Me. ² In My Father’s house are many ^[b]rooms; if that were not so, ^[c]I would have told you, because ^(B)I am going there to prepare a place for you. ³ And if I go and prepare a place for you, ^(C)I am coming again and will take you to Myself, so that ^(D)where I am, there you also will be.

¹⁸ “I will not leave you as orphans; ^(A)I am coming to you.

³⁶ “But ^(A)about that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father alone. ³⁷ For ^[a]the ^(B)coming of the Son of Man will be ^(C)just like the days of Noah. ³⁸ For as in those days before the flood they were eating and drinking, ^(D)marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that ^(E)Noah entered the ark, ³⁹ and they did not ^[b]understand until the flood came and took them all away; so will the ^(F)coming of the Son of Man be. ⁴⁰ At that time there will be two men in the field; one ^[c]will be taken and one ^[d]will be left. ^41 (G)Two women will be grinding at the ^[e](H)mill; one ^[f]will be taken and one ^[g]will be left.

Be Ready for His Coming

⁴² “Therefore ^(I)be on the alert, for you do not know which day your Lord is coming.

Parable of the Fig Tree

³² “Now learn the parable from the fig tree: as soon as its branch has become tender and sprouts its leaves, you know that summer is near; ³³ so you too, when you see all these things, ^[a]recognize that ^[b]He is near, right ^(A)at the ^[c]door.
