⁸ but you will receive power ^(A)when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be ^(B)My witnesses both in Jerusalem and in all Judea, and ^(C)Samaria, and as far as ^(D)the remotest part of the earth.”

³ But Peter said, “Ananias, why has ^(A)Satan filled your heart to lie ^(B)to the Holy Spirit and to ^(C)keep back some of the ^[a]proceeds of the land? ⁴ While it remained unsold, did it not remain your own? And after it was sold, was it not ^[b]under your control? Why is it that you have ^[c]conceived this deed in your heart? You have not lied to men, but ^(D)to God.”

⁷ and after they came to ^(A)Mysia, they were trying to go into ^(B)Bithynia, and the ^(C)Spirit of Jesus did not allow them; ⁸ and passing by ^(D)Mysia, they went down to ^(E)Troas. ^9 (F)And a vision appeared to Paul in the night: a man of ^(G)Macedonia was standing and pleading with him, and saying, “Come over to Macedonia and help us.” ¹⁰ When he had seen ^(H)the vision, ^(I)we immediately sought to leave for Macedonia, concluding that God had called us to ^(J)preach the gospel to them.

¹¹ So after setting sail from ^(K)Troas, we ran ^(L)a straight course to Samothrace, and on the following day to Neapolis; ¹² and from there to ^(M)Philippi, which is a leading city of the district of ^(N)Macedonia, ^(O)a Roman colony; and we were spending some days in this city. ¹³ And on ^(P)the Sabbath day we went outside the gate to a riverside, where we were thinking that there was a place of prayer; and we sat down and began speaking to the women who had assembled.

First Convert in Europe

¹⁴ A woman named Lydia was listening; she was a seller of purple fabrics from the city of ^(Q)Thyatira, and ^(R)a worshiper of God. ^[a]The Lord ^(S)opened her heart to respond to the things spoken by Paul.
