⁸ But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”^(A)

¹⁹ Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit^(A)

¹⁵ And he said to them, “Go into all the world and proclaim the good news^[a] to the whole creation.

¹⁹ by the power of signs and wonders, by the power of the Spirit,^[a] so that from Jerusalem and as far around as Illyricum I have fully proclaimed the gospel of Christ.^(A)

³² And we are witnesses to these things, and so is the Holy Spirit whom God has given to those who obey him.”^(A)

³³ With great power the apostles gave their testimony to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and great grace was upon them all.^(A)

The Arrest of Stephen

⁸ Stephen, full of grace and power, did great wonders and signs among the people.

⁴⁶ and he said to them, “Thus it is written, that the Messiah^[a] is^[b] to suffer and to rise from the dead on the third day^{(A) 47} and that repentance and forgiveness of sins is to be proclaimed in his name to all nations, beginning from Jerusalem.^{(B) 48} You are witnesses^[c] of these things.^{(C) 49} And see, I am sending upon you what my Father promised, so stay here in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high.”^(D)

³⁸ how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power; how he went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him.^{(A) 39} We are witnesses to all that he did both in Judea and in Jerusalem. They put him to death by hanging him on a tree,^{(B) 40} but God raised him on the third day and allowed him to appear,^{(C) 41} not to all the people but to us who were chosen by God as witnesses and who ate and drank with him after he rose from the dead.^(D)

The Coming of the Holy Spirit

2 When the day of Pentecost had come, they were all together in one place.^{(A) 2} And suddenly from heaven there came a sound like the rush of a violent wind, and it filled the entire house where they were sitting.^{(B) 3} Divided tongues, as of fire, appeared among them, and a tongue rested on each of them. ⁴ All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other languages, as the Spirit gave them ability.^(C)
